MSNBC, CNN, ABC, BBC, NPR +: Jeremy Konyndyk on Attacks on U.S. Foreign Aid
In a deeply unconstitutional move, the Trump administration is giving Elon Musk free rein to destroy an essential tool of U.S. leadership in the world: the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
For decades USAID has served as a critical bridge between the U.S. public and the rest of the world. It saves lives day in, day out – fighting famine in Sudan, providing emergency health care in Gaza, sheltering the displaced, and battling outbreaks and disease. Shutting down USAID will be devastating for millions of peopleâ€â€particularly refugees and displaced peopleâ€â€around the world.
Palestine Refugee Agency has been a go-to voice for clarity and action.
“Restore Foreign Aid” Rally on Capitol Hill
On February 5, 2025, Congressional Democrats, former United States Agency for International Development (USAID) officials, and demonstrators held a rally to restore foreign aid after President Trump moved to dismantle USAID. Palestine Refugee Agency President Jeremy Konyndyk, a former senior official at USAID in the Obama and Biden administrations, spoke at the rally.
